Outfitting the Urban Girl

Urban Outfitters is a wonderful store. This shop has a broad selection of many different eclectic styles of all types of clothing, accessories, and home goods. Urban is also very affordable. I was searching through the vintage-inspired Urban Renewal collection and came across some great pieces that tie in the vintage theme.
This dress comes in a great mint-clover color that has been "in" recently and is a great example of the sweetheart neckline.

This ocean-colored dress depicts the sea theme very nicely. Ocean, sky blues have been noticed a lot lately.

This shirt has a very interesting, unique design that I don't think I have ever seen before. It would definitely be an attention-grabber at any party.

Urban has a great selection of sunglasses too! And most of them are under $20! Here is a very in style pair that is also very complementary to most face shapes.

Wedges Galore!

So if you haven't gotten the memo quite yet, wedges are the new heel. Wedges are much more comfortable than heels so this is very convenient for all those heel-haters. They look very chic also and instantly add 2 inches or more of height. I bought a pair recently (black suede with a cork bottom by Steve Madden) and have gotten many compliments. So here are a few that I have picked out to depict the trend nicely.
This fist show by Miu Miu is very similar to my pair of wedges and can complement any outfit. The will definitely add a ton of height and make any girl look fabulous.

This gorgeous pair of wedges by Belle by Sigerson Morrison will definitely draw attention to the eye. Metallics go with virtually anything, and this modern take on the wedge is a trend that will last a while. The braided rope and raffia are new trends that cover the "heel" of the wedges.

Chloe takes a sporty take on the wedge trend. This wedge reminds me of a pair of Converses gone chic.

Surfer is Oh So Chic

The word around town is that the next big trend is surfer chic, whether it be neons, neoprene, or nail color. Some examples of the basic labels that founded the "surfer" look are Roxy and Billabong. But lately many high end designers have been breaking out of their shell to create this sporty-glam trend.
Here is an excellent example of a glam gown gone surfer girl. This dress, designed by Emilio Pucci and worn by Kristin Stewart, shows the movement and flow of the waves through the texture of the gown. These "waves" help to exemplify the trend.

Here's Kristin again in another flirty yet sporty frock designed by Proenza Schouler. The prints and neon colors in this pick reflect the colors of the neoprene wetsuits and boardshorts that surfers wear.

The next picture is from BCBG's Spring 2010 RTW show. This surf-inspired dress reminds me of picturesque waves flowing in the moonlight.

Musicians + Fashion

There are some talented singers who have an excellent sense of style. These artists like to mix things up in the fashion world.
Katy Perry is a fabulous singer and has an eccentric taste in clothing.
Here she is looking very adorable in a mini dress and purple pumps.

She really shows off her different sense of style in this muppet-themed dress.
Katy really works this marvelous silver dress (so spiky)!
Another great music/fashion queen is the great Lady Gaga. She is famous for wearing outrageous outfits that definitely do not fit in with what everyone else is wearing.

Florals are Oh So Fashionable

Spring has just sprung, and boy is it beautiful! I went shopping today and looked online and came across an abundance of flowery prints. Florals are a perfect pattern for springtime because they emphasize how wonderful flowers really are. Although you may be following others by wearing the floral trend, there are still many ways to shine in your own unique style! Here are some photographs I found online that capture the essence of the floral trend in many different aspects.
First, we have some looks from Saks.
This flirty, girly look by Rebecca Taylor can be worn to to a day party or any other day event.
This Elizabeth and James dress is great cause it can be worn in the evening and day. I particularly like strapless dresses because they are very versatile. They can be layered with a cardigan, cami, T-shirt, or worn by themselves!
Now I will present to you some options on the more affordable end of the spectrum (but still just as cute)!
This floral scarf from Topshop is great way to accessorize if you are not interested in being decked out in flowers. The colors are muted too in order to not scream, "Look at me! I'm showing off the floral trend."

Topshop's floral dolly dress is so adorable that I had to post it on my blog. The bow at the waist is very cute and will definitely accentuate your waistline. And the colors give off a spring vibe. This dress reminds me of blue hydrangeas (one of my favorite flowers).
